Celebrating World Environment Day

As we celebrate World Environment Day, we are proud to unveil our newly launched Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. This comprehensive report is more than just a document; it is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. With over 3,000 employees and 120,000 customers at over 300,000 locations, we recognise the significant impact we have at both national and local level. Our ESG initiatives reflect our dedication to creating positive change for the environment, our communities, and our stakeholders.

Why ESG matters to phs

In today's rapidly evolving world, ESG considerations are not just a trend - they are essential components of a responsible business strategy. For a company of our size, with a national presence and deep local ties, the importance of ESG is magnified. Our operations touch countless lives daily, from providing essential services in schools and workplaces to ensuring safe and hygienic environments in public spaces and lobbying for industry change. Our impact is profound, and with that comes a responsibility to lead by example in sustainability and social value.

Environmental - Reducing our footprint

The Environment is a core pillar of our ESG strategy. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and have taken significant steps to address our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Our focus on environmentally friendly products and water-saving solutions is part of our broader effort to minimise our environmental impact. By innovating and adopting sustainable practices, we are not only reducing our own footprint but also helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals.

For instance, our water-saving products are designed to reduce water usage in washrooms, promoting conservation and efficiency. We also offer environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional products, such as period products, ensuring that our customers have access to sustainable solutions that do not compromise on quality or performance. Our commitment to diverting hygiene waste we collect from our customers away from landfills thanks to our phs LifeCycle Strategy is another example of how we’re leading the way in our industry to reducing our carbon footprint.

Social Value - People at the heart of what we do

At phs Group, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. Our workplace culture is built on principles of inclusivity, respect, and continuous development. Through comprehensive training programs and career development opportunities, we empower our employees to grow and succeed. This investment in our people not only enhances their professional lives but also contributes to a more skilled and motivated workforce.

One of our flagship social initiatives is our commitment to washroom equality. Our phs Period Equality campaign ensures that period products are accessible to those who need them in education, the workplace and in sports, promoting dignity and equality. Additionally, our Dispose with Dignity campaign for male incontinence alongside Prostate Cancer UK provides discreet disposal solutions, supporting men in managing incontinence with respect and dignity.

Governance - Ethical leadership and transparency

Strong governance practices underpin our ESG strategy. We are committed to ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability in all our operations. Our governance framework ensures that we adhere to the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct, fostering trust and confidence among our stakeholders.

We are a partner of choice

At phs, we put people at the heart of our products and services. Our ESG initiatives are driven by a genuine care for the environment and the communities we serve. We understand that our success is intertwined with the well-being of our planet and society, and we are dedicated to making a positive difference.

As we launch our ESG report on this World Environment Day, we invite you to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable and socially responsible future. Together, we can create a lasting impact and ensure a better world for generations to come.
